Background:

Frank Ocean is one of my favorite artists and I've been very inspired by his music lately, so I decided to create a graphic to inspire me.

Photoshop:

  • I imported the photo of Frank Ocean and used the object selection tool and inverted it to delete the original background. I refined the selection and got the small details to be selected.

  • Used a wave graphic I found online to go with the aesthetic I was wanting and put that on a layer beneath the photo so it was behind him. I edited the color of the wave by using the color drop tool to take a color from his shirt to use for the wave.

  • I created a layer of text on the photo and used the warp text to create an arch to go along with the curve in the wave. I utilized the color dropper tool to take a color from the image and use it for the text.

Design:

  • Colors- The same color scheme was used throughout the photo with blues and greens

  • Typography- I used the font Avenir Next Bold

  • Alignment- I used the lines to add some dimension to the image and the text to go with the flow of the lines

  • Repetition- I used the same color from the photo of Frank to use in the background of the photo
